Email Subject Lines and Copy Are CRITICAL!

Statistically, 8 out of 10 people will read your email subject and sent-from address, but only 2 out of 10 will go to read the rest. This is why your subject line will make or break your email campaign! The better the subject line on your email, the more times your email will be opened and read!

But writing a great subject line does not guarantee that your email will sell – for that, you need a great Headline and copy.

The headline is the next critical piece – it determines whether or not the person will keep reading once they click the email. Many copywriters use “The Four U’s” approach to writing headlines – Use this formula for your subject line too!

Your Email Subject Line, Header, Copy and Bullets should all:

  1. Be USEFUL to the reader (and RELEVANT)
  2. Create a sense of URGENCY
  3. Describe how what you offer is UNIQUE; and
  4. Provide ULTRA-SPECIFIC information to your target audience.

You will do well to ask yourself these six questions before you start writing your email:

  1. What will your subject offer the reader as a reward for reading? How will your email benefit them?
  2. What specifics can you include to make the email subject more believable, intriguing and credible?
  3. Does your subject trigger a strong (and positive), emotion for the reader that they might take action on?
  4. Will your reader relate positively to the content?
  5. How do they benefit from your offering? How many ways?
  6. Does your copy keep the reader reading? Does it cause them to want to learn more?

Use these tips and your open rate and sales rate will go up significantly – as will your profits!!
